3 Savory Reasons Hocus Pocus Is Halloween's Best Party
Plus, the winner of our VIP ticket giveaway 🔮
We’ve been a little quiet over here in the Takeout-sphere, but we’re back and more bangin’ than ever. We’ve partnered with the underground culturati at Space and Link Miami Rebels to curate the food court at Hocus Pocus, the three-day music fest at Factory Town that’s going to keep Hialeah freaky ALL WKND LONG.
If you’re like us, you’ll watch the sunrise swaying and stomping to a magical set by Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers. If you’re also like us, you’ll have a GLIZZIE in hand. Here’s why Hocus Pocus is the most delicious underground music festival you’ll go to all year. And if you can’t make it, we’ve included details below on how to enjoy these guys year-round.
The Waffle Sandwich Bar by Semilla Nativa
What’s a 7 to 7 festival without all-day breakfast? Semilla Nativa is a local brand that makes plant-based and allergy-friendly flour mixes and pesto sauces, and they’re bringing an incredibly creative waffle bar to Hocus Pocus.
Savory options are sandwiched between black cumin and ginger waffles and include ingredients like guava crystals, carrot bacon, local lion’s mane mushrooms, and classic fried chicken. Cap it off with Semilla Nativa’s chia seed and oat waffle churro sticks or nutella-topped protein and probiotic waffles.
Sound delish but you’re dead-set on staying in this weekend? Check out everything Semilla Nativa has to offer on their online shop.
Meaty, Juicy Burgers By Apocalypse Barbecue
If you daydream about briskets and corn bread, then does Apocalypse Barbecue need an introduction? They’ll be featuring “The Super Smash,” a thick-n-juicy 8oz patty that’s smashed on the grill for the perfect sear.
But the true star, they say, is “The Boss Burger,” a brisket and short rib patty that’s so rich it has an offshore account in the Seychelles. It’s got double the cheese, “boss sauce," and house-made pickles all tucked into two pillowy soft steamed potato buns, which is the closest things to pillows you’ll be around this party weekend.
“We’re just excited to be a part of this amazing experience,” says Jeff Bud, co-owner of Apocalypse, and who has a brick-n-mortar on the way for all you Kendallites. “With so many talented artists coming out to drop some magic it’s hard to not say we’re excited to see them all!
Offsite’s Getting all GLIZZIE & Glam on Us
“Our menu is super simple,” says Offsite Co-Owner Adam Darnell. “GLIZZIES!!”
And we would go on to describe them, but really Adam does it best.
“They are fairly special to us as hot dogs are notoriously hard to make (they have to be emulsified, which can be tricky) and we seem to have hit the nail on the head. They are made with all top round, so it is a quality meat not what you generally think of when you think of hot dogs. The taste however, is exactly what you think of when you think hot dogs.”
GLIZZIES are topped with curry mustard, their house lacto-fermented sauerkraut and a generous drizzling of everything bagel seasoning. And if you find yourself craving a hotdog right about now, then you can book it to offsite because they sell these babies by the packload.
