Order 08! Best Bars For Thanksgiving Behavior
'Twas the night before Thanksgiving, and no one was in the house.
Did you know the night before Thanksgiving is the biggest bar night of the year? Not St. Patrick’s Day, not Cinco de Mayo. It’s Thanksgiving Eve! All your real friends, Instagram friends and cousins have come in from out of town and are ready to catch up over food, drinks and the promise of a delicious feast to soak it all in the next day.
Based on years of experience and “hard-hitting research,” we’ve found that the perfect Thanksgiving Eve bar has the following attributes:
Friendly prices and recognizable fare. Think $10-12 bites and under $15 drinks with ingredients that your cousin from Minnesota can pronounce.
Plays mostly songs you know the lyrics to but are mixed in a way that feels refreshing and cool.
Has pockets of seating carved out for conversation so that your catch-up convos don’t leave you voiceless.
Has consistently good vibes to make sure everyone in your group has a good time.
Here are some of our favorites bars that fit that bill.
Baby Jane
Creative cocktails, Asian-inspired fare, and a DJ that’s always turnt. Baby Jane is a go-to bar in Brickell to catch up with friends over noodles and dumplings before the night gets fun and fuzzy. With $4-6 offerings, their 4-7pm happy hour is a great launch point for the night, but the party really gets started after 10pm.
Over Under
Over Under is like a dive bar with all the trappings of a craft cocktail bar, but IT’S NOT A CRAFT COCKTAIL BAR BECAUSE THERE’S SHITTY $4 BEER. Plus, they’ve got one of the damn best burgers in town and guess what WEDNESDAY NIGHT IS KARAOKE NIGHT!!!
P.S. this is also the team behind Over Under, our fave “come as you are” bar.
Lost Boy
Lost Boy is best for catch-ups and conversation. In lieu of a dance floor, there are plenty of tables to sit at and enjoy craft cocktails, craft beers, and craft Sloppy Joes. It’s is also one of the best bars in Miami to catch the World Cup, so start the party early by catching Belgium vs. Canada at 2pm and then carry your afternoon into happy hour from 4pm to 7pm.
The Bend
Shout out to Miami Lakes for having one of the best neighborhood bars in the city! The drinks at this 70s-themed lounge are decent enough, but when you’re with your friends, who cares? Cozy up at a booth inside, grab a table outdoors or post up at The Bend’s Bottle Shop for craft brews, wines and board games.
Lagniappe
If you’re the kind of person who wants to meet up with so many people you need three group chats, then Lagniappe is your best bet. The wine selection is good, as are the meat and cheese boards and churrasco, and you won’t need to worry about splitting up a complicated bill because you buy as you go. But beware! Scoring a table at Lagniappe is PURE ANARCHY, so send in a representative (or three) around 5pm to secure the space you need, or else you’ll be left hawking empty seats for hours.
Mama Tried
Alright, so you can’t actually have a conversation at Mama Tried, but you can have one as you wait in the long line at the door! You’re coming here because you look good and secretly want to run into your ex. Or, your crazy cousin suggested one last stop for the night which you know is a bad idea but F*** it! You’re with family! Whyever you came, Mama Tried is always a wild time. #NoRegerts.
Save the Disco Turkey at Sandbar
Ok, so technically this isn’t taking place on Wednesday night, but we thought you should know what to do with your Friday if shopping isn’t your form of cardio. Head to Sandbar on on November 25th for Coconut Groove’s "Save The Disco Turkey.” Catch USA vs England at 2pm, then groove into the evening as the DJs take over at 4pm.
